Security
Measures & Entering Fort Dix
In order to assist Fort Dix with its
military base security and gate entry procedures, please review and cooperate
with the following guidelines:
*** As your vehicle approaches the gate, please have your Drivers Licence, Vehicle Registration and Vehicle Insurance
Card in hand and ready for base security to identify you and all adult
occupants. Adult passengers in the vehicle should be prepared to produce
a photo ID if requested. If this information is provided immediately to
security it will expedite your entry.
*** You must use the Special Events entry
gates at the south end of the base, as identified in the travel
directions on the website. Be aware that Fort Dix
may periodically open a second auxiliary gate near the main Special
Events gate to accommodate entry flow; watch the traffic signs.
*** Gate personnel should have a roster
from each participating team, listing each player and each adult in your
team's party. Be prepared to identify your vehicle's team affiliation by
club/team name, age and gender, and the names of all occupants in your
vehicle. Also, be prepared to open your vehicle's trunk space if
requested.
*** Please note that different individuals
identify the same team in numerous ways: by club name, by team name, by
initials, by nickname, etc. Entry Gate personnel are not expected to know
youth soccer trivia, and need to be provided a consistently recognizable
name. It is suggested that you check the way your team name is listed
online (accessed from the Tournament Homepage). This is the way the team
name has been provided to Gate Personnel.
*** Upon entering the base, please go directly
to the playing fields. Please do not drive around the base
unnecessarily. We will have a very good concession stand available
which will provide something for everyone. We are trying to assist
the base by keeping everyone affiliated with our event in one area.
*** Note that these base entry procedures
will apply every time that you pass through the gates. (If your vehicle
gets its windshield marked upon entry, it is to identify the vehicle as a
Special Events guest while on base, and not necessarily to change gate
procedures upon future re-entries.)
*** Please exit the base from the same
gate that you entered.
*** Since it may take a little extra time
to gain access onto the base, please arrive a bit earlier than normal. We
recommend arriving at the gate at least 30 minutes before you would
normally plan on arriving for pre-game warm-ups. The team representative
conducting registration and in possession of the team player passes
should be particularly aware of this consideration.
FAQs
Why
can we only enter Fort
Dix through one
gate?
The
gate is staffed with personnel familiar with the soccer event going on,
and traffic can be directed directly to the event without impacting other
base activities.
Can
we LEAVE through any gate?
Once
permitted on-base, you can usually leave through any gate. However, be
aware that some gates close precisely at 6:00 PM, and you will be
directed to the closest open gate.
Who
must present a picture id?
All
adults should bring a valid picture id to enter Fort Dix. If you are unsure whether a person
needs a valid picture id, err on the side of caution and bring one.
Youth
visitors are not required to present an id. However, we do recommend that if they
have a picture id, again, err on the side of caution and bring it.
What
is an acceptable picture id?
Valid
picture identifications include a photo id drivers’ license or a
passport.
What happens if an adult does not have
a photo driver’s license or a passport?
You
will need to present two forms of valid identification, one must be a
photo (e.g., military id photo and non photo driver’s license) that are
acceptable to the guard at the control center. The safest approach is to
use either a valid photo driver’s license or passport.
What
should I do if I have any questions?
Direct
your questions to the MAPS / MSSL office at 732-940-5599 or email MSSLsoccer@aol.com
What should I do in an emergency situation during the tournament (only)?
Try
calling 973-698-6655 or 732-309-5710. But base personnel can usually
provide adequate assistance.
