Travel Directions to Doughboy Loop Fields at

JOINT BASE McGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST

DIRECTIONS BELOW. BUT FIRST SOME IMPORTANT NOTES:

USING GPS DEVICES:

·         The SPECIAL EVENTS GATE on the south end of the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst complex is the only way to enter for soccer events.  Do NOT try to enter other gates (unless you have a Armed Forces ID).

·         Do NOT rely on GPS SYSTEMS indiscriminately to get to the base, you will almost always be directed to the wrong gate, miles away from the Special Event Gate you need to enter.

·         Read these directions carefully. To obtain directions to the JOINT BASE MCGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST fields online, go to GOOGLE MAPS and enter “ 39.9955,-74.6160 ”.

On MapQuest, you can either enter the above co-ordinates, or use this address for the Special Events Gate:  N Pointville Road & New Jersey Avenue, New Hanover Township, NJ 08640

Since car GPS systems have various models, you may have to try several options before you find what works best.

·         For an address for the fields once inside the base you can enter:  "6500 Doughboy Loop, Fort Dix NJ”. However, if you use this address with mapping and GPS services to get to the base, you will be directed to the closest gate or the main gate, which will be unavailable for your entry.

ENTERING THE BASE:

·         As your vehicle approaches the gate, please have your Driver’s Licence, Vehicle Registration and Vehicle Insurance Card in hand, all items current and valid. These are required at all traffic stops, but it is amazing how often items are missing or expired. Usually, if missing these items, DOD Police will allow you to park just outside the base, and hitch a ride to the fields.

·         All adult passengers in the vehicle may be required to produce a photo ID. Driver’s license or passport are preferred.

·         If you have a rental or leased vehicle, make sure you have your Driver’s License, and the documentation for the rental or lease. All documents need to be current, and should clearly inform gate personnel that the vehicle is properly insured. The person behind the wheel entering the gate must be a named driver, if one or more are listed on the documents.

·         Be prepared to identify your vehicle's team affiliation by club/team name, age and gender, and the names of all occupants in your vehicle. Also, be prepared to open your vehicle's trunk space if requested; all vehicles are subject to search.

·         Upon entering the base, please go directly to the playing fields. Please do not drive around the base unnecessarily. Do not move any traffic cones.  Vehicles and individuals found outside of designated playing field and parking areas are subject to arrest, fines and imprisonment.  We will provide a good food court which will offer something for everyone.  We are trying to assist the base by keeping everyone affiliated with our event in one area.

·         Please exit the base from the same gate that you entered.

·         Since it may take a little extra time to gain access onto the base, please arrive a bit earlier than normal. We recommend arriving at the gate at least 15 minutes before you would normally plan on arriving for pre-game warm-ups. The team representative conducting registration and in possession of the team player passes should be particularly aware of this consideration.

ONCE YOU ENTER THE BASE:

·         Park in designated parking only! Vehicles will be ticketed and towed.

·         No pets allowed. Service animals should be clearly marked.

·         No motorcycles or bicycles on the military base. Their mobility is considered a security risk.

·         No smoking or alcohol on or near the playing fields. Basically, this is the entire area bounded by the parking lots and roads

·         Please stay off the tanks and other military display pieces. These items have not been sanitized for civilian folly, and we have already seen many scrapes, bruises and twisted ankles.
