Ukrainian All-Stars Score 2 – 0 Victory Over Toronto Karpaty

July 27, 2005 – The Ukrainian All-Star team played its first exhibition game in preparation for their September 17, 2005 game to be played against the NY/NJ Metrostar Reserve team -  at Giants Stadium in New Jersey – 4pm.

The Ukrainian All-Star teams victory came against Karpaty of Toronto and was played at Oselia Resort - Ellenville, NY, during the USCAK Youth Olimpiada.

The temperature for the game was well in the 90’s and extremely hot & humid.  Karpaty came out very well organized in the first half and, in fact, had the more dangerous opportunities to score.  Several shots either sailed over the goal or were stopped by the All-Stars substitute goal-keeper.  The All-Stars held on defensively and ended the half with a  0 – 0 scoreline.

The All-Stars came out in the second half better organized, maintaining possession and started creating attacking chances for themselves.  Their creativity paid off as Mykailo Vyshnyovsky scored to put the hosts up 1 – 0.

“The first goal was important”, stated head coach Bo Kucyna.  “It took a little pressure off us and we were able to settle down and play with more control and confidence after that”.

The confidence paid off as Mykailo Vyshyovsky scored his second goal of the game to seal the victory for the All-Stars.

Coach Kucyna concluded that he was happy with the result and the effort put forth by the team, especially in the second half.

The All-Stars next scrimmage will be played on August 21, 2005 at Tryzub field in Philadelphia.  Kick-off is scheduled for 4:30 PM.

UNIFORMS UNVEILED!

New adidas uniforms for the Ukrainian-American All-Stars command that will be facing the Metrostars reserves were unveiled during the June Organizational Committee meeting. They were funded by sponsor Selfreliance Ukrainian American Federal Credit Union (Web).

METROSTARS vs. NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION  -  7:30 PM

The featured game of the festival will be the MetroStars vs the New England Revolution, with a Ukrainian Day Halftime Ceremony, Ukrainian youth ballboys and ballgirls during the game, and a featured Ukrainian singer performing the National Anthem before the game.

UKRAINIAN-AMERICAN ALL-STARS vs. METROSTARS RESERVES  -  3:30 PM

Mid-afternoon, the Ukrainian-American All-Stars will play the Metrostars Reserve team in a regulation game inside Giants Stadium. The Ukrainian-American team will be drawn from the ranks of current Ukrainian Sports Clubs' Mens teams and recent college players. Information about tryouts, along with availability requirements for training and preliminary scrimmages, can be found by clicking on the button above.

UNDER CONSIDERATION:  SMALL-SIDED YOUTH GAMES

Time and field availability permitting, youth players can experience playing on the Giants Stadium field by participating in a number of short, small-sided 8v8 youth games in various age groups. We project four half-hour games, at the U11, U13, U15 and U17 age levels. We can add this additional hour of Giants Stadium field time by pre-selling 2500 tickets.  Soccer clubs interested in putting a team on the field in one of these age groups can do so by purchasing 150 tickets (Participating players and parents alone will no doubt account for a lot of the ticket purchases.) Contact Bo Kucyna at 973-599-1836 or email  boksoc@aol.com  for details.
